Behavior worked with HBO to create the Game of Thrones Viewer's Guide as an online companion to the new HBO series based on the epic fantasy novels of George R.R. Martin. Running parallel with HBO’s extensive marketing efforts for the series, the goal of this cross-platform project was to orient new fans and satisfy longstanding Martin devotees with a spoiler-free experience.

The Viewer’s Guide serves as the ultimate online reference to the series, allowing users to toggle between an elaborate yet easy to use interactive map and a guide to the houses. It’s a handy and entertaining tool that can be easily accessed on a desktop browser or a tablet device. The guide includes an extensive amount of exclusive content related to the characters, plotlines and locations in the series. Content is strategically tied to the relevant points of each episode and deep-links encourage fans to share their enthusiasm by giving them the ability to like and tweet every page and screen state.

HBO and Behavior team up to produce the web presence for their new documentary series, The Alzheimer's Project. The series is a partnership between HBO, the National Institute on Aging of the National Institutes of Health in association with the Alzheimer's Association, Fidelity Charitable Gift Fund, and Geoffrey Beene Gives Back Alzheimer's Initiative. The emotional documentary series is aimed to educate the public about the second most feared disease in the United States, Alzheimer's Disease.

HBO and Behavior closely collaborated to design an interactive experience that offers a holistic view of the disease and the science of hope. The main films act as a gateway to a library of supplementary and glossary films that give specific insight into the core topics surrounding the disease. Users are encouraged to explore the content and are contextually linked to relevant and important resources and organizations.

Behavior is proud to collaborate with HBO and their partners on this important and touching project.

The 2009 Thomson Reuters Annual Report is an immersive interactive experience based on Thomson Reuters’ mantra: “Knowledge to Act.” The concept for the site experience focused on featuring narratives that integrate important world events with Thomson Reuters’ role, from its various business units, in addressing the issues. Each story ends with a video message by the CEO tying the discussed themes back to the larger company, its value as an organization, and its quantifiable performance for the year.

Site visitors can browse content in both a passive and an active way— dynamically structured for different levels of interaction (both lean back and lean forward modes are supported). The site experience is visual and video centric. In addition, the human element is emphasized with the CEO intimately present throughout the experience, including providing a quick tutorial on how to use the site. The resulting experience is a nicely woven merger of company capabilities couched within Thomson Reuters relevance in today’s big events.

Big Picture Learning is a worldwide not-for-profit network that generates and sustains innovative, personalized schools that work in tandem with local communities to pioneer education. BigPicture.org allows participating schools to share, communicate, raise funds and awareness, and locate new areas in which they can be effective.

The Big Picture leadership team came to Behavior with growing pains: they were producing lots of great content and new ideas, overflowing their site's architecture. By working on cost-effective solutions for content management and effective communication, we found the right means to help Big Picture take the next steps. As part of the revitalization, we worked with Big Picture's fresh rebranding, created by legendary graphic designer Milton Glaser.

Through the development of highly customized, open-source content management solutions, we created an easy-to-use WordPress system that allows for easy maintenance and sophisticated display. The Big Picture team can now fluently present exciting new projects, podcasts, and video content with aplomb. Reworking the user experience helped focus content for students and parents, educators, policy makers, and everyone interested in learning more.

As a non-profit entity, Big Picture has an obvious need to target and inspire new donors to the cause. Behavior helped shape call-to-action strategies, and leveraged proven solutions like PayPal to ensure that contributions are a snap. We also developed engaging interactive modules to literally help put Big Picture on the map, and help visitors find profiles of alternative schools in their area.

Behavior designed the web site and kiosk virtual browsing interface for the MoMA exhibition for German Expressionist Ernst Ludwig Kirchner. Kirchner is renowned for his Street Scenes series, created between 1913 and 1915. This series is considered by many to be the highpoint of Kirchner's career as a whole and its seven paintings are showcased with sixty related prints and drawings.

The web site features selections from 3 sketchbooks. The exhibition is organized around four themes: “City Scenes”; “the Nude Outside”; “the Nude in the Studio”; and “the Cabaret”.

The remaining design inspiration for the Kirchner site came from notions of passing time, elongated figures, and glimpses into the worlds of others.

The “Setting the Stage” section provides both a biographical and contextual view into the life and work of Kirchner as he progressed toward his Street Scenes masterpieces. The vertical slats allow the user to explore the subject matter and highlight points of interest upon rollover. The interactivity allows vibrant colors to stand above the remaining content, cast as duo and mono-tone treatments. The other elements recede into the background.

For their exhibition Georges Seurat: The Drawings, the Museum of Modern Art engaged Behavior to design a companion website in addition to a kiosk where visitors can securely explore Seurat’s four surviving sketchbooks.

We embraced the opportunity to engage the obstacles involved in collecting, digitizing, and choreographing the assorted raw materials and translating them into a single, intuitive interface. The kiosk we designed is an all-access pass to otherwise privileged material and adds a multidimensional layer that heightens the experience and allure of the exhibition.

“The Museum of Modern Art’s elegantly plain exhibition of Georges Seurat’s drawings begins with an unexpectedly extraordinary moment of computerized art viewing.” ~ Roberta Smith, New York Times
