Behavior worked with HBO to create the Game of Thrones Viewer's Guide as an online companion to the new HBO series based on the epic fantasy novels of George R.R. Martin. Running parallel with HBO’s extensive marketing efforts for the series, the goal of this cross-platform project was to orient new fans and satisfy longstanding Martin devotees with a spoiler-free experience.

The Viewer’s Guide serves as the ultimate online reference to the series, allowing users to toggle between an elaborate yet easy to use interactive map and a guide to the houses. It’s a handy and entertaining tool that can be easily accessed on a desktop browser or a tablet device. The guide includes an extensive amount of exclusive content related to the characters, plotlines and locations in the series. Content is strategically tied to the relevant points of each episode and deep-links encourage fans to share their enthusiasm by giving them the ability to like and tweet every page and screen state.

Behavior reunited with the Museum of Modern Art to design a multiplatform companion website for the exhibition Picasso: Guitars 1912–1914. The show highlights a breakthrough moment in Cubism and features over 40 works detailing the artist's inspiration and techniques for collaging, drawing, painting, and constructing.

Conceptually the user experience centers on Picasso's studio. The composition allows users to see various paintings, drawings and sculpture positioned next to each other for users to compare. We want visitors to get a sense of what it was like to have such a large body of work in a single environment and think about their influenced over one another. Users are invited to explore the work on multiple levels by rolling over the piece to see a magnified view revealing high-resolution details of rich colors and layered textures. We created opportunities for MoMA curators to feature audio commentary from a variety of notable contributors that was updated throughout the duration of the exhibition.

Behavior and Thomson Reuters teamed up again for the Thomson Reuters 2010 Annual Report. This time, the pioneering organization wanted to complete the transition towards a completely digital and interactive publication; one designed to work seamlessly on both desktop and tablet platforms. The resulting experience is a direct narrative from the desk of the CEO, structured and based entirely around the shareholder letter. Each of the succinct concepts in the address invites a deeper lateral exploration, and showcases the many facets of the organization and its various businesses; all from a single page. Highlights include the launch of new products – including a video-broadcasting platform that enables creation and distribution of proprietary content – a slideshow review of the year in evocative photography, extensive financial performance details, an interactive map illustrating globalization and growth initiatives, and a bounty of video content demonstrating Thomson Reuters’ ambitions and altruistic efforts.

Through a series of executive-level stakeholder meetings, prioritization exercises, and successive rounds of user testing, Behavior redesigned the home page, section landing pages, and primary navigation of Businessweek.com.

We presented business news readers with a diverse selection of creative concepts for the home page, each conveying a sense of timeliness and increased pace over the existing approach. A second round of testing let us fine-tune the messaging further, combining aspects of a data-centric approach with an emphasis on the depth of BusinessWeek's coverage.

This project also provided the opportunity to update the main editorial website's primary navigation with links to the Business Exchange, a topic-based social news and information initiative Behavior designed in collaboration with BusinessWeek's technology, editorial, and business staff.

Tennis.com, the official site of Tennis Magazine, is the leading online source for tennis news. Behavior redesigned the user experience to highlight core content features like original articles, exclusive interviews, breaking news, live scores, instruction and resources that serve the a variety of interests for the true tennis enthusiast.

We created a modern look and feel that allows for the photos to shine and the text easy to read. The colors are kept to a minimum in order to drive the users eye to the images and articles. Contextually sponsored advertising is integrated into event scoreboards, polls, and player rankings. Interactive advertising modules such as a racquet finder were conceived as a way to expose users to the archive of product reviews while being able to highlight sponsored products.

Behavior restructured the architecture of the pages to facilitate an ongoing dialogue through commenting and sharable video and audio. Related videos, photo galleries, player rankings and product reviews became part of the master framework across relevant pages.

Call it Publishing 2.0. The forward-thinking leaders at BusinessWeek.com wanted to augment their award-winning editorial content with the collective wisdom and specialized interests of their diverse reader community. The solution is a groundbreaking topic-based social news and information initiative called the Business Exchange.

Working in tight collaboration with senior members of BusinessWeek’s technology, editorial, and business staff, Behavior’s team of user experience experts developed the core interaction design and user interface of the Business Exchange’s integrated suite of powerful business tools. Through rapid prototyping and testing, Behavior worked as an integral part of BusinessWeek’s innovative product development approach.

Users can read and save articles from over a thousand topics, from Cloud Computing to Green Energy, and can contribute interesting links they find elsewhere on the web. The best links in each topic automatically surface to the top, based on BX user interest and activity. “The core strategy was to allow users to leverage the power of each other,” says Behavior co-founder Christopher Fahey.

The 2009 Thomson Reuters Annual Report is an immersive interactive experience based on Thomson Reuters’ mantra: “Knowledge to Act.” The concept for the site experience focused on featuring narratives that integrate important world events with Thomson Reuters’ role, from its various business units, in addressing the issues. Each story ends with a video message by the CEO tying the discussed themes back to the larger company, its value as an organization, and its quantifiable performance for the year.

Site visitors can browse content in both a passive and an active way— dynamically structured for different levels of interaction (both lean back and lean forward modes are supported). The site experience is visual and video centric. In addition, the human element is emphasized with the CEO intimately present throughout the experience, including providing a quick tutorial on how to use the site. The resulting experience is a nicely woven merger of company capabilities couched within Thomson Reuters relevance in today’s big events.

Big Picture Learning is a worldwide not-for-profit network that generates and sustains innovative, personalized schools that work in tandem with local communities to pioneer education. BigPicture.org allows participating schools to share, communicate, raise funds and awareness, and locate new areas in which they can be effective.

The Big Picture leadership team came to Behavior with growing pains: they were producing lots of great content and new ideas, overflowing their site's architecture. By working on cost-effective solutions for content management and effective communication, we found the right means to help Big Picture take the next steps. As part of the revitalization, we worked with Big Picture's fresh rebranding, created by legendary graphic designer Milton Glaser.

Through the development of highly customized, open-source content management solutions, we created an easy-to-use WordPress system that allows for easy maintenance and sophisticated display. The Big Picture team can now fluently present exciting new projects, podcasts, and video content with aplomb. Reworking the user experience helped focus content for students and parents, educators, policy makers, and everyone interested in learning more.

As a non-profit entity, Big Picture has an obvious need to target and inspire new donors to the cause. Behavior helped shape call-to-action strategies, and leveraged proven solutions like PayPal to ensure that contributions are a snap. We also developed engaging interactive modules to literally help put Big Picture on the map, and help visitors find profiles of alternative schools in their area.

Behavior was retained by National Geographic Channel (NGC), a popular television channel featuring non-fiction programming, to redesign and reimagine an online companion for their highly-acclaimed original shows.

Behavior drove the project with two core objectives: first, motivate viewer “tune-in” and second, cultivate fan enthusiasm. Through this framework we produced the industry's most innovative TV schedule. Instead of simply displaying a boring table with static text, Behavior created an interactive, pictorial module that allows users to drag and slide through four weeks of scheduling.

The new site showcases every NGC program within its own mini-site, allowing fans to explore their favorite shows on a more intimate level. Each show’s site integrates hundreds of videos, photos and interactive features, using cutting edge browser technology to create a seamless user-experience without sacrificing valuable search engine optimization.

Behavior received a Gold Davey Award and a Silver Horizon Interactive Award for the redesign of National Geographic Channel.
